Nokia 7 Plus Running On Android 8 Oreo Along With Snapdragon 660 Processor Spotted On Geekbench

Last year, HMD Global launched the Nokia 7 smartphone in China, and now, the company is preparing to launch its bigger variant "Nokia 7 Plus" that could possibly be unveiled at the upcoming MWC trade show in Barcelona next month.

The phone, which appeared last month in the Nokia’s unreleased camera app, has now been spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench.

This is the first time that the information regarding the upcoming Nokia 7 Plus has surfaced online. While we were expecting the phone to pack bigger display and a better processor, nothing was known apart from the phone’s name.

Based on the report from Geek bench, the Nokia 7 Plus will features a 5.2-inch Full-HD IPS display with a layer of Gorilla Glass on top and also it will be powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC from Qualcomm, and offer 4 GB of RAM. It is also running Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, although whether the final SKUs run Android 8.1 remains to be seen. As can be seen from the accompanying image, the device scores 1636 in the single-core test and 5902 in the multi-core test.

Now, the benchmark listing of the Nokia 7 Plus reveals that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor along with 4GB RAM. It also reveals that the device will run Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box.

Meanwhile we don’t expect the Nokia 7 Plus to make its debut at the Mobile World Congress, there’s a possibility that the company could announce the phone at MWC for the global market given that Nokia 7 is still China exclusive.

The company is likely to launch its next flagship phone — the Nokia 9, among others at MWC 2018. The Finland-based company is also expected to announce Smart Home products at the February 25 press event.

Apart from the flagship Nokia 9, HMD Global could also take the wraps off Nokia 1 as well as the Nokia 6 (2018) for the global market. We also expected to see the launch of Nokia 3310 4G as well as the Nokia 7’s global rollout, as the phone has only been launched in China. We’ll have to wait until the event to find out the company’s plan for the year.

Furthermore, if the Nokia 7 Plus is, indeed, launched at the MWC 2018, it will be one of several Nokia handsets that are expected to be unveiled at the event, given that the company is tipped to announce its Nokia 9 flagship there as well, alongside the Nokia 6 (2018 model) and the entry-level Nokia 1 with Android Go.
