How To Root Moto G5S And G5S Plus, Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP Recovery And Check Root


Few months back the Moto G5 and Moto G5S Plus was launched and was launched in India around a month back, it inherited almost all the features in the previous motorist devices which are the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus.

The both devices are sported with  5.5 inch full HD Display, the Moto G5S which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset along with 4 GB of RAM.

While the Moto G5S Plus which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 soc clocked at 2 GHz in addition of 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

In conclusion, I can say that the devices "Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus" are both great phones to have or use.

However, the launching of Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus just took place a month back in India and already, we've figured out a way to root the both devices (i.e if by any chance you want to root any of the phones).

  • A computer (desktop or laptop).
  • A working USB cable.
  • Download ADB toolkit and ADB drivers.
  • A well charged phone (not less than 70%).
  • Connect to the internet.
  • Backup your data.
Steps On How To Unlock Bootloader in Moto G5S:
As Moto G5S comes with pure stock android so the unlocking bootloader procedure is very easy and consume much time (not more than 8mins).

★ So at first, what you must do is to download the ADB toolkit and extract it in C/ drive like – C/ADB.

★ Open the ADB folder and hit Shift key + Right Mouse click.

★ A command Window will be displayed on your screen.

★ Next, connect your phone to PC using a data cable.

★ With your phone go to Settings => About Phone => click on build number 7 times.

★ Now go to developer settings and enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking.

★ On your PC in the command window type in the below code.

★ A pop-up will appear on your phone then click on allow.

★ Then type in the below code to reboot into fastboot mode.

How To Install TWRP Recovery On Moto G5S:
Here, there are also the benefit and non benefit of installing TWRP Recovery. That's why before proceeding, I'll like you to be aware of what you're about to do.

Advantages Of Installing TWRP Recovery:
  • The first thing to have in mind is that the user will be granted access to root.
  • The user can install any custom ROM/MOD of his or her preferred choice.
  • The user can take a full backup of your device including app data.
Disadvantages Of Installing TWRP Recovery:

  • Download TWRP Recovery image for Moto G5S.

★ From the command window boot into fast boot mode by typing the below code, however you can skip it if you are already into fast boot mode.

★ Type the below code
fastboot flash recovery recovery-motog5s.img
★ Now boot into TWRP recovery by pressing power button + volume up key, go to Install => Internal Storage => locate lazy flasher file and flash it (This is an important step otherwise your device won’t boot).

Good to go, you've successfully installed TWRP Recovery In Moto G5S. Now, let's have a look on how to root Moto G5S.

How To Root Moto G5S:
At first let's see the good effect of rooting and on the other hand, the bad effect as well.

Advantages Of Rooting:
  • The user can be able to uninstall bloatwares.
  •  The user will be able to remove pre-installed apps.

  • The bootloader must be unlocked and TWRP recovery must be installed.
  • A well charged battery (at least 80%).
  • Download magisk.zip for your Moto G5S.
Steps On How to Root Moto G5S:★ Download and place magisk.zip in the internal storage of your Moto G5S.

★ Boot into TWRP Recovery by pressing volume up + power button on your phone.

★ Go-to Install => From SD card then locate Magisk file and install it.

★ Next, tap on reboot system now.

★ Visit the Google play store and download Root checker

★ Launch the app and tap on Verify Root.
